Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! As the gorgeous season of fall dwindles, the dusk sets in sooner, and the wind whisks away the last crunchy leaves that lay on the frostbitten soil, we welcome Thanksgiving and the joyous occasion of family, food, and recognizing what we're thankful for. With the big day quickly approaching, we reflect on the wonderful memories, creations, and opportunities we've been given through our loyal and loving supporters. Thanksgiving is a day meant to truly reflect, relax, and enjoy the company of our family and take part in the ritual of serving sides, splurging on pies, and joining around the table expressing our gratitude in what is often taken for granted. The Thanksgiving table where family and friends come together is the symbol of the holiday and the hallmark of the event. We found ourselves thinking deeply on what elements came into place in our traditional Thanksgiving table display, and what aspects we can add to pursue a modern twist on the festivity. Pulling inspiration from the past and present, a cozy and nostalgic display was created depicting a Thanksgiving table set-up that we hope can inspire and provoke ideas on how to incorporate different mediums of floral into your special celebration. In this blog you'll discover the broken down tips and techniques we used to craft this display and we hope you find yourself reimagining your own twists and personalization's, making it sacred and your own.
One of our favorite elements we used for this display was placing a centerpiece on an old dish/serving tray. This method showcases a piece of family history without the hassle. We all have hand-me down dishes that are near and dear to our heart and are core to our traditions, but not everyone finds themselves making the same traditional meals they were once carried on. One modern way to still utilize these pieces is to accent them with a centerpiece that gives it a new flare and a seasonal charm. This is the perfect approach to meeting traditional and modern in the middle.
Mixing fresh and dried flowers is a stunning and budget friendly way to make the table truly come together and pop with different elements and textures. Using dried florals in votives creates a cohesive look that leads the eye to all the details and components of the display. We loved how the dried hydrangea complimented the traditional dishes, while adding a twist of effortless natural elegance. The adaptation of dried florals and likewise pieces can be foraged in ones backyard, finding flowers, pine, pinecones, and different greenery to serve a touch of autumn into your celebration feast. This is also a great way to save time and money, as using a mix of dried flowers last longer and are ultimately easier to care for.
Another endearing and personal touch we loved experimenting with was crafting these gorgeous floating candles. Floating candles are a great way to elevate your display and to make the table enchanting and inviting. For these floating candles, we incorporated pinecones, pepperberry, mock floral pieces, and sentimental stones collected from previous adventures our family embarked on. We love, love, love the use of collected rocks in the floating candles, as it is sparks conversation and ignites and showcases our families memories into our displays. This is something that can be recreated with your families own collectables or theme, like a nautical piece using seashells.
One final tip for adding a bit of floral flare to your table set-up would be to incorporate artificial floral into your napkin display. No matter if your pursuing a feast the traditional, non-traditional, or modern-esque way, napkins are the foundation for your flavorful feast. A stunning way to tie these into your set-up is to wrap the faux floral around your rolled cloth napkin, or have it twisted and radiating out of your napkin ring. This is a simple, yet very effective way to make your display pop in color and to add a charming detail and class to the scene.
We Hope You Have An Amazing Thanksgiving Filled With Love, Gratitude, Delicious Food, and Floral Memories.
